FWAH! What a weekend, seriously. I have to update about Kristin's wedding AND about H2H. I don't even want to know what it says about me that H2H is coming first, but oh well, here it is:

Ok, so I can't even begin to accurately explain Herm2Hockeytown, so I will just direct you to the website.

It explains all of it. I don't even want to give a "in a nutshell" version of it, because there's just too much awesome to summarize. Really. Check the whole thing out. It is the very definition of a feel good story. Not an ounce of bummer in the whole thing. It's motherfrakking amazing, kids, no doubt. $5,000+ went to charity, and that is nothing to sneeze at right there!

I wasn't super involved in the whole cause, but I did donate, and attend the pre-pre party. .. and the pre-party... and the game... and the post-game... and the post-post game...

And it was all phenomenal. I am a local gal. I'm used to lots of Wings fans in one place. But this is the first time that I've ever been in a group of Wings fans and felt like, "These people GET me. They know all the insanity. They live it, and they love it."

That's the best part to me, I suppose. The brotherhood of it all. The feeling of us being one big, bad-ass, obsessive family. I'm never going to forget sitting in that section, in our "tinfoil" hats, watching that game. Every time I walk into JLA I'm going to have the memory of sitting with a group of fans that I KNOW were all there for the team, and not just something fun to do on a Friday night. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is pure awesome.

Random shout-outs, in which I will forget people and probably come off like a total dipshit, but I've gotta say this stuff:

I swear, VooX started every chant at the game on Friday. Way to go man! It was cool to sit by ya, and high five ya, after all those goals.

CaptNorris5 (your real name?!?! I forgot it?!?! I suck), you crack me up. Sorry that I was not down for chanting "bullshit" with ya. It's the mommy in me. :D

Ellen, my gosh, you are so wonderful and sweet! Thanks for all you did!

Jennyquarx, again, thanks for everything you did. Next time you're in town, drag your son along and we'll have a kick-ass play date. ^__^

Petrella, I'd call you a gentleman, but I'd hate to ruin your reputation. Thanks for your exceptional personal security services this weekend, and the pledge drive leading up to H2H. It wasn't just good fundraising, but good entertainment.

TPLMom, Linda, I just adore you. ADORE! We can hang out, right? Watch some hockey? :)

Kris (Snipe, Snipe, Dangle, Dangle) & Greta, I totally used you girls as my security blankets. I'm a friendly gal, but sometimes I get a little shy and then I totally leaned on you two lovely ladies. Hope it wasn't too much for ya.

Serven, you're just pure awesome. Seriously. You crack me up. Wish you lived closer so we could hang out more, because I'm sure it'd be a laugh fest and a riot.

Hollis, again, you're one of the ones to thank. Well done on everything, and you, sir, look fabulous in my Dandenault jersey.

Herm!! The man himself. Thanks for coming to Hockeytown, sir. You're always welcome. ^_^

To the Chief, and other unnamed members of the 19 (too many to name! too many new friends! I ADORE you ALL!)... I stop by A2Y weekly. It's amazing blog. You're all hilarious and wonderful and inspiring and I sound stupid blathering on, but it's just true. I'ma comment more often. Because now I feel like I know ya.

Oh, and HOW ABOUT THEM RED WINGS, eh kids?!?! 6-2 on Friday night! Outstanding. And the whole Red Wings organization for being fabulous and treating us all so well, and treating Herm like he's the frakking King of frakking Brazil or something. Nicole, you rock so hard. I hope I see you at lots of Wings events for a long time to come. ^_^

It was all just awesome. To take that feeling that you get when you're posting in a forum, on twitter, on a blog, in a community, whatever, where you're all freaking out and experiencing things together, and transferring it to a live experience, it's amazing. And overwhelming, in some ways... How many times did I sort of wish I had a laptop in front of me, so I could use typing and the written word as a security blanket? But, it's good. It's all good. Better than that, even. Amazing. I knew words would fail me, and they have, but that's alright, because years later, when I read this, I'll still remember. And that's what matters, you know? That's why I keep this damn journal. Oh, and so I can say things to my friends that are just too long to tweet. <3

ETA: People I forgot to mention!! Miss Jenemyoftheskate for teaching me about Roller Derby and being generally gorgeous and fun to look at. Adrienne, for our ENTIRELY inappropriate Jonathan Ericsson conversation @ Hockeytown Cafe... Natalie, who is so funny and sweet and adorable... Lola for the amazing hats!! Amanda and Leslie for being sweet and passionate and fun! And Sara, no H, for feeling my life time of misspelled name pain! And to the woman who misspelled my name on the name-tag who made us all AMAZING name-tags! (they were so cute, thee's nothing to forgive there)

I'm bursting with pride for my team, my fandom, and my friends. And that's all there is to it.

Great read, and put into words what I've been trying and failing to for a couple of days--wish I could've made it to the pre-pregame, the post-party and the post-postparty but it wasn't meant to be. Definitely would've gotten to know a lot of the people there a whole lot better! Already looking forward to next year!

H2H was awesome
And you're very sweet to say such kind things! It was great to meet you. Also, Baroque/Catherine made the name tags. ;)

It was my pleasure to escort you to the Schroppmobile, and I don't have a reputation (that I know of).

I loved meeting you and sincerely hope you stay in touch with my mom, too!

Wonderful post!
Enjoyed your post and your kind words. I would love to hang out and watch hockey with you. I really want to meet your special little guy too! I meant what I said about baseball so we will definitely stay in touch. TPL Mom / Linda

Good stuff, great wrapup! I couldn't even attempt to sum up the amazement that was H2H. And no worries about not chanting bullshit, I'm well aware of the fact that not everyone has as few standards and sense of decency as I do. It was great meeting you!
